Scope and Contents
This collection includes a July 15, 1822 letter sent to Theodore Denny with messages from his brother, Addison, his mother and an A. Henshaw, and three letters written and sent by Theodore to his brother, Christopher Denny, that relate news about family and friends, economic times, cost of land and goods, and his desire for his brother to visit Indianapolis, Indiana. The letters are dated January 24, 18__ (1830's?), February 6, 1841 and February 9, 1843. The 1843 letter includes a note to "Uncle & Aunt" from M. Denny. The collection also includes typed transcriptions of the three letters written by Theodore Denny.

Biographical Note
Theodore Vernon Denny was born February 21, 1800 at Leicester, Massachusetts to Joseph and Phebe Henshaw Denny. He was one of the early pioneer settlers of Marion County, Indiana arriving in Indianapolis around 1822. He married Elizabeth McLaughlin (1805-1890) on May 30, 1823 and they had 11 children. Denny passed away on January 19, 1854.
