This collection includes letters, histories of early Indiana families, notes and manuscripts on local history; printed church histories and brochures; financial papers; and newspaper clippings from Roscoe R. Leak and others in Lizton, Indiana and elsewhere ranging from 1689 to 1958, regarding early Clark and Hendricks counties; histories of the Disciples of Christ Church and the Methodist Church of those two counties; Leak, Leach and Buzzard family histories and financial documents; and newspaper clippings on various subjects.

Biographical Note
Roscoe Ryan Leak was born in Lizton, Indiana on September 18, 1884 to James Hilary [Hillary] and Margaret Catherine (Leach) Leak. He had one sister Dena S. Leak was graduated from Central Normal College at Danville, Indiana in 1906.
He worked as a farmer but was a noted authority in the early history of Hendricks County, Indiana and was the local representative to the Indiana Historical Society from Hendricks County. Leak had several articles published in the Indiana Magazine of History. Leak was a member of the Knights of Pythias, the Republican Party, and the Disciples of Christ Church where he served as an elder for many years.
Leak married Minnie Candace Noe on September 25, 1909 in Hendricks County and had one son, J. Robert, and two daughters, Margaret and Amanda. He died on October 22, 1964 and was buried in the Lizton K. of P. Cemetery, Lizton.
