Biographical Note
Andrew Bush was born in Coshocton County, Ohio (or Maryland) to David and Fredricca Bush on May 29, 1833. His family moved to Indiana when he was young. He was one of at least six boys, including Jacob and had a sister, Sophia. He married Mary Hillegas on May 19, 1861 in Owen County, Indiana. He enlisted in Company H, Indiana 97th Infantry Regiment on August 28, 1862; promoted to full sergeant and mustered out on June 9, 1865. Five of his brothers also served in the Civil War.
Andrew and Mary had two children, Uriah and Ira. In 1890, he was a farmer living in Otis, Nebraska. He died in Marquette, Nebraska on May 21, 1916.
