Biographical Note
Charles W. Boswell was born on May 12, 1878 in Indiana to William John and Josie Boswell. He had two sisters, Nellie and Mamie. He married Hazel E. Evans on November 15, 1908. Charles married Lillie V. Floyd on February 13, 1917. He is listed as divorced in the 1910 census and the 1930 census, widowed in the 1940 census. He died in 1944 and is buried in Noblesville, Indiana.

Biographical Note
Charles Henry Boswell was born on October 31, 1909 in Henderson, Kentucky to Nat and Ora Boswell. He had two sisters, Nattalye and Loyse. Charles graduated from Indiana University with a degree in sociology. He married Elsie Stock in Marion County, Indiana on June 15, 1943. He was chief probation officer of the Marion County Juvenile Court, then served as city controller under Mayor Phillip Bayt, succeeding him when he resigned and winning the office in his own right in November 1959.
Under his administration, tax funds were deposited in interest bearing accounts, allowing for the expansion of recreational facilities. Eagle Creek Reservoir was developed, after a flood nearly devastated Speedway. He also constructed sanitary and storm sewers as well as one-way streets. Crime dropped significantly during his administration. He resigned in 1962 to become postmaster of Indianapolis, becoming the U.S. Postal Service district director in Indiana. He retired in 1987 and died on December 30, 2006. Charles is buried in Washington Park North Cemetery.
