Biographical Note
Harold Brown Adkinson, an only child, was born to Hubert M. and Elizabeth B. Adkinson on Augist 22, 1906 in Indianapolis, Indiana. A lifelong resident of Indianapolis, he worked as a salesman until he joined the Indianapolis Fire Department as a firefighter in 1934. He eventually joined Station #12 on Sherman Drive.
Adkinson and his wife, Jean, had a son, William H. Adkinson was fatally injured in a fire truck accident on December 16, 1944, died December 22, and was buried in Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis.
Adkinson took great interest in collecting memorabilia and particularly photographs of the Indianapolis Fire Department and 19th century Mississippi and Ohio River steamboats.
