Scope and Contents

The collection consists primarily of correspondence with the Thoma-Barnett families. Correspondence generally relates to family life, economic conditions, politics, farm prices, and the American Civil War. The correspondence included letters from George and Rebecca’s parents, as well as state representative J.P. Barnett of Jasper and Pulaski Counties.

Biographical Note

George and Rebecca (Thomas) Barnett resided in Winamac, Pulaski County, Indiana. The couple married, circa 1860. Rebecca’s parents and brothers, Mahlon and John, were from Belleville, Illinois. George’s parents, William and Maria, resided in Logansport, Indiana.
