Scope and Contents

From the Collection: The collection, which dates from approximately 1900-1950, contains articles, manuscript drafts, and research notes of Logan Esarey. The collection consists of several unpublished chapters on politics and early Indiana state newspapers, Esarey's research and notes from the Indiana Journal and Senate Journal, as well as several essays on Jacksonian democracy in Indiana, the William Henry Harrison administration, and the Republican Party in Indiana. Also included are correspondence and articles concerning early Indiana newspapers from Donald F. Carmony, a professor at Indiana University South Bend Center, to R. Carlyle Buley, a collegue of Esarey at Indiana University, and a carbon copy of a typed document regarding culture in southern Indiana and read by Esarey at a meeting of the American Historical Association on December 12, 1933.
