Scope and Contents This collection includes Henry McCabe Dowling's pocket-size journal containing entries ranging from 1822 to 1824. The journal has a few personal entries including one that mentions the death of a Rev. George W. Snyder on January 3, 1824, but the bulk of the volume contains notes regarding the writings of Horace, Dr. Johnson, John Locke, Milton, Virgil, and others.
