Scope and Contents This collection includes a photocopy of Lloyd A. Whitehead's typewritten essay "The Mastodon Who Went to College" (circa 1970). The essay discusses the chain of events that led to the discovery of an incomplete mastodon skeleton on the Bookout Farm in Randolph County, Indiana and how it was combined with other remains found previously at New Paris, Ohio and mounted together at Earlham College (Richmond, Indiana) in 1895.
