Scope and Contents This collection includes a November 12, 1822 contract between James Paxton and Johh E. Baker, architects of the first courthouse in Marion County, Indiana, and Samuel McGeorge. McGeorge was to be paid $1,850 for “all the stone work of every kind and description” and the contract has detailed measurements and instructions for how the stone work was to be completed. The document was signed by Paxton, Baker, McGeorge, Wilkes Reagan, and Hervey Bates.
