Scope and Contents This collection includes a copy of "The Students Dewdrop," a handwritten periodical "devoted to religious literature, the arts and sciences, agriculture, fun, current news, and all matters of general interest. Independent in all things, neutral in nothing." The October 3, 1860 edition was issued by Miss Etta McCoy as editress and Mr. A. Rankin Foster as editor and contains a prospectus and a number of essays written by Richand Academy students.

The collection includes correspondence, indentures, free papers, business and tax receipts, deeds, family records, newspaper clippings, genealogical and other papers. The collection also includes military records relating to the Civil War and an 1832 contract to build the first African Methodist Episcopal Church in Indiana.
