Scope and Contents The bulk of the collection is invitations, programs, and announcements for social events in Washington, D.C. Other items include clippings related to Albert H. Vestal’s work in Congress; his diary and other materials from his trip to California and Alaska (1927); speeches; a record of assistance given to World War I veterans and their families in his congressional district; and a transcript of headlines made by Vestal during 1917.

Scope and Contents The collection consists primarily of Virginia Ellis Jenckes’s congressional papers. Also included are correspondence, reports, and other papers relating to the Agriculture Waste Recovery Project (1933–1943) and other efforts to help farmers during the Depression; flood control on the Wabash and White Rivers; railroads; women’s rights; education; and Communists in America, as well as her opposition to Communist radio broadcasts.
