In the letter, Reeves mentions that he's been sick for "some three months" since he'd left Indiana, was tired of "old Virginia," and had seen Washington and Annapolis, Maryland. This collection contains a letter written by Eliza A. Hardy to her cousin on February 12, 1863. She mentions letters she received from her brothers, Morris and Sol, and from Dave Morton and Libe (?) who were all serving in Company A, 16th Indiana Regiment. She relates some of what the soldiers were experiencing while traveling "down the river", mentions Arkansas Post, and that she is talking of "going as a nurse to Memphis."
