Scope and Contents The discharge certificate is written in pencil and ink. The pencil notations have faded, but the entries in ink are still visible. The discharge is signed by Louis Morris. The paymaster, Mr. Allen, marked “Paid” in the left margin. Thomas’ occupation when he enrolled in the army was farmer.
