This collection includes the January 10, 1866 discharge paper of James Nixon from Company M, 1st Indiana Heavy Artillery following the end of the Civil War. On the back of the document a note was added that states, "Given to F.G. McCormack by: Mrs. Sarah J. Bechner who received it from James S. Nixon at Arlington, IND.
