Donald D. Howard collection

Scope and Contents The collection contains World War II letters of Howard to his parents, Louise and George Howard (Evansville, IN), written from the South Pacific, Okinawa, China, Korea, the Philippines, California, and Ft. Benjamin Harrison. The collection also includes correspondence from the Howard’s daughters Marilyn, a student at Indiana University, and Mrs. R.C. Datzman, a medical technician and wife of physician in Detroit and Carlysle, PA, during the same time period.

Scope and Contents This collection includes two half-fold card with Robert W. Shields' "artist's conception" pen sketch of Old Fort Vallonia printed on the front cover and a three paragraph history of the fort printed inside the card. The cards were given as dinner favors at an event sponsored by the Fort Vallonia Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution in May 1952.

Also included is an artist sketch of Fort Vallonia during 1812 by E. M. Cox.
