Scope and Contents This collection includes a transcribed copy of a letter from Ben Keelor, Jr. in Chattanooga, Tennessee to A.F. Davis, on November 27, 1863, regarding the account of the battle of Missionary Ridge in which Captain William D. Sering was killed and the accound of his body being returned home. There is also a transcribed obituary for Sebring from January 1864.

Scope and Contents This collection contains photostatic copies made in 1947 of a diary kept by Henry J. Shombre while traveling to the gold fields of California in 1849. The diary entries range from March 29 to June 17th and relate Shombre's experiences traveling from Hagerstown, Indiana to Fort Laramie in Wyoming Territory by canal boat, steamboat, and wagon train.
