Abel C. Pepper collection

Scope and Contents This collection contains a November 22, 1835 letter written by Indian Agent Abel C. Pepper that accompanied a treasury warrant (no. 2280) for $1,430 drawn on the State Bank of Indiana at Indianapolis. Pepper requested that the amount be paid to his credit and that a receipt of acknowledgement be returned by mail. The warrant is not part of the collection.

Belt, Butler and Company bills of sale

Scope and Contents This collection contains three bills of sale for furs purchased from George W. Turner by Belt, Butler and Company, exporters of raw furs and ginseng. The purchases were of pelts from skunks, raccoons, opossums, red foxes, minks, sheep, and other animals. The bills of sale are a record of prices at the turn of the last century.

Scope and Contents Dated November 30, 1848, the collection consists of one "due to" statement of hours worked by Robert Earl on the Central Canal, for a total due amount of $57.87. That sum covers 51 3/4 days' Work and 18 1/2 days' work with wagon.

The note is signed by Robert Greenfield, Superintendent, North Devishian [Division]. On the verso of the note, William Sullivan, a justice of the peace, has sworn to and justified the account.
