Scope and Contents This collection comprises two items, an oversized soldier's record for Arthur Douglass dated June 1, 1902 and signed by Captain Cecil Stuart at Fort Riley, Kansas and a soldiers memorial broadside for Troop C, 4th Cavalry, U.S. Army for foreign service in the Philippine-American War during 1899-1900. The latter includes a roster and "record of events" for the troop. Both include photographic images along the edges.

The biography describes Miller's experiences serving in the Philippines from 1899 to 1901with Company B, 34th Regiment Volunteer Infantry during the Philippine-American War. This military conflict occured following the Spanish-American War of 1898 and its resulting Treaty of Paris that transferred Philippine control from Spain to the United States.
