The narrative accompanied aerial photos showing the floods in Jeffersonville, New Albany, Madison, Lawrenceburg, and other places. Pages 1-8 gives a general report of the 1937 floor. Pages 9-22 tells of the trip by Governor Townsend and his party. Pages 23-28 continues the narrative decribing aerial views. The narrative tells of the work by WPA men. Peter Chabert letter

Scope and Contents This collection includes a June 8, 1839 letter written by Pastor Peter Chabert and sent from Vincennes, Indiana to Ferdinand Bernhard at St. Marie, Jasper County, Illinois. In the letter Chabert requests assistance in obtaining a new horse to travel to St. Marie and mentions that "our good Bishop" is rather worse. This is most likely in reference to Simon Bruté, the first bishop of the Diocese of Vincennes, Ind., who passed away on June 26, 1839.
