Scope and Contents This collection consists of photocopies of three letters from or about James McLaughlin ranging from 1863 to 1865, during his military service in the U.S. Civil War. The first letter dated May 11, 1863 is a handwritten transcription of McLaughlin's missive to his father and wife, Phebe, concerning running the blockage at Vicksburg.
