Edward Beecher Bender oral history

Scope and Contents This collection contains a transcript and an audiotape reel of an oral history with Edward Beecher Bender conducted with Tom Krasean for the Indiana State Library on October 31, 1968. Bender discusses growing up on a farm, his association with the Ku Klux Klan and Indiana politics during the 1920s, the Boone County R.E.M.C. and farming in the 1960s.

The collection also includes Josie Lee's first term high school report card from the 1905-1906 school year and a post card sent to her sister, Faith, from John I. Denison while he was serving with the American Expeditionary Force in France during World War I (April 22, 1918).

Scope and Contents This collection includes correspondence from members of the Young family of Indiana, including Ransom T. Young, his wife Emma, and his brothers, James M. and John C. Young, to their sister, Mary E. (Young) Jones between 1864 and 1875. There are also other Civil War letters from Hoosier soldiers and their relatives, including letters sent to James and Mary (Johnson) Briggs of Utica, Indiana from their brothers and friends, as well as two letters from J.W. Lakin to his siblings from 1861 to 1865....
