In the letter, Reeves mentions that he's been sick for "some three months" since he'd left Indiana, was tired of "old Virginia," and had seen Washington and Annapolis, Maryland. Scope and Contents This collection contains photostat copies of two letters sent to Elisha Chamberlain of Vernon Township, Washington County, Indiana. The first letter was written September 8, 1862 by Augustine Elliott and sent from Helena, Arkansas while he served in 24th Indiana Infantry Regiment. The second letter was written April 16, 1865 by John Smith Ruberson, a former resident of Washington County, and sent from Springfield, Illinois.

Scope and Contents This collection contains a letter written by Eliza A. Hardy to her cousin on February 12, 1863. She mentions letters she received from her brothers, Morris and Sol, and from Dave Morton and Libe (?) who were all serving in Company A, 16th Indiana Regiment. She relates some of what the soldiers were experiencing while traveling "down the river", mentions Arkansas Post, and that she is talking of "going as a nurse to Memphis."

Scope and Contents This collection includes an undated photograph of George B. McCafferty in uniform and a handwritten letter from Eliza E. George to Mrs. McCafferty, George's wife, written on March 4, 1865 in Wilmington, North Carolina. George was the head of the army hospital in Wilmington and informed Mrs. McCafferty that her husband had been freed from prison and was ill, but that he would be taken care of to the best of her abilities.
