Scope and Contents This collection comprises a typed copy of the letter which Herschel Jasper Warner wrote to his little sister Cloe from "Camp near Nashville and the Insane Asylum 1862." He wrote: "we have just drawed five days racions of sugar and Chancy is dealing it out to his men." He told about picket duty. "I have never felt the lest bit afraid when I was on post, away off in wood. Did not know what moment there might [be] a reble slip up and lay we cold. We go from three to five miles from camp."
