Scope and Contents This collection includes the January 10, 1866 discharge paper of James Nixon from Company M, 1st Indiana Heavy Artillery following the end of the Civil War. On the back of the document a note was added that states, "Given to F.G. McCormack by: Mrs. Sarah J. Bechner who received it from James S. Nixon at Arlington, IND. Scope and Contents The collection contains Lazarus Noble’s business correspondence and papers from 1860 to 1868, when Noble lived in Indianapolis. Included are correspondence relating to the Indianapolis Copper Mining Company for which Noble was an investor. Also included are letters regarding business interests in Vincennes, requests for assistance in obtaining state and federal appoints, a 1865 family vacation to Montreal (Canada), and Civil War related letters.
