Beadle, Surveyor General, Yankton, Dakota Territory, to Vice President Schuyler Colfax of Indiana, suggesting his brother, John H. Beadle, as a witness for Congress regarding his study of Mormonism in Utah. John H. Beadle, a journalist, gathered material for a book, tentatively entitled, according to the letter, The American Saints and Their Territory. He did publish at least 3 books specifically concerning Mormons.

William H. H. Johnson diary

Scope and Contents This collection is one small, lined notebook with 48 pages. Mr. Johnson gives measurements for furniture as well as ingredients for stains and varnishes. On pages 38 and 39, he made drawings of what appear to be bunk beds and window seats under decorative window frames. On pages 20 and 21, he wrote a poem entitled "Lilly Dale."
