Scope and Contents The letter is date-stamped September 27 from Fort Wayne, and is addressed to A. Van Nechten, Esq., Catskill Greene County, New York. The letter was written by R. Starkweather on September 26, 1838, from Fort Wayne, Indiana. Scope and Contents This photocopied, 30-page manuscript tells the story of a father and son, Jacob and John Upp, who were both captured by Indians. The original manuscript was created in 1851.

An accompanied affidavit certifies the item as an exact and true copy of the original book, signed "Lula Fisher" on May 10, 1935.
