Biographical Note

Mary Ann Baker was born May 31, 1891, in Boone County, Indiana to Alva M. and Katie (Bleistein) Baker. She graduated from Shortridge High School in Indianapolis in 1908 and then DePauw University in 1912. Baker married Joe Rand Beckett on March 17, 1913, in Louisville, Kentucky. They had one son Joe Rand, Jr. Mary Ann Beckett was a member of the Indianapolis Propylaeum and the Society of Mayflower Descendants. She was also the secretary for her Depauw alumni class for over 60 years. Mary Ann Beckett died on January 14, 1996 in Johnson County, Indiana.
