Biographical / Historical
Grace Mae Gossett was born September 1, 1904, in Parke County, Indiana to Claude and Jesse McKee Gossett. She had 7 siblings. Gossett graduated from New Goshen High School in 1922 and then attended Indiana State University. She later took classes at Colorado State University. Gossett married Frank Jerkins on December 29th, 1943 in Gary, Indiana and taught in both Elkhart and Gary schools from 1924 to 1958. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club, the American Association of University Women and the Retired Indiana Teachers. She enjoyed genealogy and oil painting. Grace M. Jerkins died November 5, 2000, in Beech Grove, Indiana.
