Biographical / Historical
Catherine (Kate) Baggett was born on April 27, 1904, in Alabama to Charles and Davie (Elmore) Baggett. She was the eighth of 10 children. Baggett married Johnsy O. Roper on November 3, 1923, in Montgomery Alabama. They had four children, three who survived to adulthood: Alice, Osborne, and John W. Kate Roper worked for the U.S. Army at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis, Indiana as an accounting clerk. She died March 4, 1984 in Marion County, Indiana.
