Biographical / Historical
Bertha Fletcher Kamm was born on September 28, 1897 in Indianapolis Indiana to Claude Durwood and Elsie Collins Fletcher. She had one younger sister Faye E. Patterson. After graduating from Shortridge High school a semester early in 1917, Bertha attended the University of Colorado and the Indianapolis Normal School. She married Alexander Kamm on June 7, 1919 in Indianapolis. Bertha and Alexander later moved to Danville Illinois where they lived for the remainder of their lives. Alexander Kamm died in 1947.
Bertha was a member of many lineage groups including the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Society of Indiana Pioneers, the Magna Carta Dames, Daughters of the American Colonists, and the Huguenot Society of Indiana. She died in Danville on August 31, 1974 and was buried in Indianapolis.
