Biographical Note

Ida Francis Richardson was born December 13, 1847 in Chatham New Hampshire to Joel Foster and Mary Avery Richardson. Her father invested in railroads and by 1860 had moved from New York to Indiana to help build the Indianapolis-Lawrenceburg line. One of his son's Thomas later invested and speculated on land in the Irvington neighboorhood in Indianapolis. Ida and one of her sisters lived in Irvington finally moving to a house at 312 Burgess Street around 1910. She taught at the local public schools but was also known well known as a painter and writer. Ida Richardson died on June 28, 1932.
