Scope and Contents This collection consists of photocopies of U.S. Civil War letters from Preston Kiser to his wife and children, ranging from 1861 to 1862, with miscellaneous additional materials. Kiser’s letters describe military life in camp, illnesses, and home activities. Each copied letter is accompanied by a typed transcription created by Frances Alma Newkirk Reber, Kiser's great-granddaughter between 1982 and 1984.
