This collection contains two sets of typewritten transcriptions of U.S. War Department records ranging from 1822 to 1903 that are related to the Indianapolis Arsenal. The records were transcribed for the Indiana State Library in 1926 by Newton D. Mereness. The collection includes a photostat reproduction of the map of Indianapolis (circa 1860s) that was inserted between pages 33 and 34 of the first set and a list of the items found in the War Department records by Mr. Mereness that was added to...
