Administrative History

The Indianapolis Shell Club was founded on August 20, 1976. Those present at the first meeting, when it was decided to form a club, chose a name and elected officials, and are considered the founding members. Those members in alphabetical order order were Thomas and Laura Barnes, Justyn Blackwell, Ralph Hindenburg, Denver and Rosanna Howlett, Ron Human, Evelyn Joyce, Margaretta Kaufman, Richard and Virginia Munday, and Letha Ross. On February 11, 2005, the Indianapolis Shell Club disbanded and met for a final time to go over the disbursement of their remaining money. Dwindling memberships, the age of the few active members left, along with the apparent lack of new interested seashell enthusiasts caused the club to end.
