Administrative History

The Free and Accepted Masons of Applegate Lodge, No. 155 were based in Fillmore, Indiana. Their Masonic Lodge was instituted on May 24, 1854, and in 1912 they boasted ninety-one members and ten officers on their roster. The Applegate Lodge was part of the larger Grand Lodge of Indiana, which was established on January 13, 1818 at Schofield House in Madison, Indiana. While each local Masonic Lodge is organized and operated independently, the Grand Lodge of each state acts as overseer to the rest. There is no national administrative body in the United States. The Grand Lodge of Indiana is the governing body for over four hundred Masonic Lodges.
