Historical Note
Formed in Alabama in 1923, the National Association of American Business Clubs was an organization which oversaw local weekly luncheon clubs for young businessmen. A branch was organized n Indianapolis, Indiana in 1923. The local branch received their charter from the natioanl organization at a dinner on August 3, 1923. Officers were also elected at the meeting, including the club's first president, Solon J. Carter. The club met every Thursday at the Columbia Club. One writer likened its operations to that of the Rotary Club, "with members representing various phases of business and industry" (November 23, 1923).
