Administrative History

The Indiana Federation of China Painters received their charter on September 30, 1969. The name was changed to Indiana World Organization of China Painters (IWOCP) when it was incorporated on February 2, 1980 in Hobart, Indiana. It is a state chapter of the World Organization of China Painters (WOCP) which has members throughout the world. In addition to the state organization, there are divisional organizations, known as "guilds" throughout the state. In 1998, there were 211 members throughout Indiana. The organization has an annual state convention, beginning in 1971, with the most recent one to be held in May of 2017.

In October 2013, the members of the Indiana World Organization of China Painters (IWOCP) began a very special art project for Indiana First Lady Karen Pence. The Indiana china painters were asked to paint 150 presentation bowls with the Indiana state flower the peony. These bowls were part of a fund raising event, on April 7, 2014, for the Indiana First Lady's Charitable Foundation. A commemorative bowl was donated to the Indiana State Museum's collection.

The Indiana World Organization of China Painters (WOCP) was featured in a segment of the PBS program "Across Indiana" produced by WFYI in Indianapolis, Indiana.
