Scope and Contents
This collection includes two cyanotypes of J. T. Palmatary's 1854 print entitled, "View of Indianapolis", depicting an aerial view of the city with various individual views of buildings with captions on the righ side and bottom of the aerial view. One of the cyanotypes is an enlargment of the right side of the print.

Biographical Note
James T. Palmatary was a lithographer in the 19th century. An English immigrant, Palmatary was known for his views of cities across the American Northeast and Midwest. He worked for the Edward Sachse and Co. of Baltimore, as well as publishing his own maps and recruiting other artists to create city views. He often worked on large-scale city lithographs with his largest being a map of St. Louis in 1858 measuring at 41.5 feet by 8 feet.
