This collection includes a July 25, 1917 handwritten letter sent by Harry Quillin to his brother, Clare J. Quillin, at Crawfordsville, Indiana. The letter was written while Harry was in the hospital at Jeffersonville, Indiana and he mentions that "army life is all right as long as you are not sick."

Biographical note
Harry Miller Quillin was born March 5, 1895 near Waynetown in Montgomery County, Indiana, the son of Thomas and Minerva (Miller) Quillin. A World War I veteran, he entered the army in the summer of 1917 and served at Camp Taylor, Kentucky and Camp Pike, Arkansas. Prior to his honorable discharge on April 1, 1919, he received a promotion to second lieutenant in August 1918. Following the war, he worked as a superintendent for the Middle West Road Company of Louisville and became a resident of Sheridan, Indiana. He married Frances Eudaley Wilkey in 1926 and they had one daughter. He passed away at the age of 60 on July 17, 1955.
