Biographical / Historical
Paul V. McNutt received serious consideration as a Democratic presidential nominee in 1938 before President Roosevelt, then in his second term, ultimately decided to run again. During this time, the Indiana Democratic Editorial Association endorsed him for President. McNutt dropped out of the race when Roosevelt entered it.
