Scope and Contents
This collection contains correspondence and documents of the Schlotterback and Fait families regarding events such as reunions, graduations, and funerals and also correspondence regarding membership in the Sakakawea Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and the National DAR (1892-1957). The bulk of the collection consists of photographs of the Schlotterbacks and their extended family (1882-1918, undated). One item of special note is a notebook containing the genealogy of the Schlotterback family compiled and handwritten by Eva Fait (circa 1900-1957).

Biographical Note
Gideon Schlotterback was born May 23, 1811 in Union County, Pennsylvania to George and Susanna Schlotterback. Gideon arrived in what is now Noble County, Indiana in 1832. He married Mary Engle (1810-1856) on April 19, 1833 at Circleville, Ohio and they had twelve children: Peter, Henry, Susanna, Malinda, Lucinda, Eli, Amelia, Adam, Sarah, Ira, Mary, and Emma. After the death of his first wife, he married Mary Hoak (1812-1895) on October 16, 1856. Gideon died on August 8, 1892.
Gideon's daughter, Amelia (1843-1919), married Clark G. Fait (1837-1933) and they had eight children: Charles, Mary, Eva, Jesse, Cora, Walter, Minnie, and Edwin. The Fait's daughter, Minnie (1883-1981), married Evan B. Feathers (1894-1990) and their son, Walter (1880-1951) married Jessie Bearse. Walter's son, Arthur Dale Clark Fait (1912-2000), married Thelma Coulter (1918-2010) on December 3, 1950. Minnie's sister, Eva (1870-1962), kept a record of the genealogy of the Schlotterbacks and their extended family.
