Biographical / Historical

"Carriers' addresses were printed pieces, usually broadsides, that Carriers of newspapers distributed on New Year's Day to extend greetings, usually in the form of verse, to their customers and to solicit a gift in reward for the dependable delivery of newspapers during the previous year."
