Biographical Note
Kanwal Prakash Singh (K.P. Singh) was born in India and came to the United States in 1965 to further his education. He attended Pumjab University and the Indian Institute of Technology in Kharagpur, India. Singh graduated from the University of Michigan with a Masters degree in City Planning. He has lived in Indianapolis since 1967.
Singh's interests include historic preservation, cultural diversity and the importance of the arts to life and the human spirit. KP Singh Designs, founded in 1972, specializes in fine arts. His work includes pen and ink drawings of historic architecture and monuments. Singh's artwork can be found in many public and private collections in the United States and around the world.
He is the recipient of several awards and honors, including the Davermann Award in Architecture from the University of Michigan (1965), Sagamore of the Wabash from the State of Indiana (1992), International Citizen of the Year from the International Center of Indianapolis (1995) and the Award of Excellence in Arts from the Asian American Alliance (2002).
