Historical Note

The Magazine Club was organized in Indianapolis in 1889 by Mrs. E.P. Brown, Mrs. O.L. Huey, Mrs. Rose Coleman, and Mrs. Mary E. Perine. The purpose of the club was to provide women with an opportunity to study and discuss literature, history, and art at monthly meetings. It was affiliated with the Indianapolis Local Council of Women, the Indiana Federation of Clubs, and the General Federation of Women's Clubs (Magazine Club, 1926-1927)
