Biographical Note
William Robeson (W.R.) Holloway was born on December 6, 1836 at Richmond, Indiana to David P. and Jane Ann Holloway. He married Eliza Burbank on November 10, 1858 and they had one son. Eliza was the sister of Governor Oliver P. Morton's wife, Lucinda. Holloway was a prominent public figure and was the owner of the Indianapolis Journal for several years and was founder of theIndianapolis Times. He was appointed Governor Morton's private secretary in 1861 and he served in this position until 1863. He also served as postmaster of Indianapolis, Indiana and as United States consul general at St. Petersburg. He passed away at the age of 75 on December 30, 1911.
