Biographical Note
Frederick Taggart Cretors, Jr. was born July 31, 1913 in Springfield, Ohio. He was the son of Frederick Taggart Cretors and Elizabeth H. Clark, and grand nephew of Thomas Taggart. Cretors attended Shortridge High School and Butler University, both in Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana. He worked as an Indiana state trooper and public relations director (1936-1943), Indiana Civil Defense director and executive director (1950-1954), executive director of the Indiana Traffic Safety Council (1938-1953), lieutenant destroyer officer for the U.S. Navy (1944-1946), and as administrative officer of the Volunteer Naval Reserve Public Relations Unit.
