Administrative History
The Vincennes Medical Society was founded circa 1817, and is considered to be the
first medical society in the state of Indiana. The Society represented the first medical
district of Indiana, according to its constitution. The inscription at the front of this volume
references Dr. Henry Held. Held, born in 1871, was a general practitioner in Vincennes
for a number of years
