Scope and Contents
This collection consists of a scrapbook donated by Charles R. Brown containing clippings ranging from 1926 to 1934 of the "Monte Tattler," a section of the Montezuma Enterprise (Montezuma, Ind.) newspaper written and prepared for publication by Montezuma High School students. The scrapbook also includes lists of previous students, organized by graduation year from 1918 to 1932, with short notations regarding work, college, and marriage that was used for articles printed in the “Tattler” in January and February 1933. A newspaper clipping of the 50th wedding anniversary announcement for the Rev. and Mrs. Albert L. Vermillion from June 1959, clippings from the November 5, 1959 Pictorial Press (Montezuma, Ind.) of class pictures from 1924, 1925, and 1926 that were supplied to the paper by Charles Brown, and two undated photographs identified as depicting a Girl Scout Park dedication are also in the scrapbook.

Biographical Note
Charles Richard Brown was born on July 26, 1914 in Oolitic, Indiana to Clyde L. and Mary Beatrice (Atkisson) Brown. The family moved to Montezuma, Indiana in 1917 and his father opened the Brown Funeral Home. A graduate of the local high school, he became a mortician and continued to own and operate the family funeral home after his father's death. He married Mildred Elizabeth Voyles in August 1937 and they had one son. He was a Mason and a member of the Montezuma Christian church, Indianapolis Press Club, the Indiana State Museum Society, and the Fraternal Order of Police. He was also a Kentucky Colonel, a Sagamore of the Wabash, and a former assistant secretary of the Indiana State Senate. He died at the age of 78 on May 28, 1993.
