The scrapbook has entries dating from 1858-1868 and includes a portion of the minutes of the McClure Workingmen's Institute and a list of members. Clippings and other items have been pasted over the minutes on some pages. The remainder of the scrapbook contains other clippings, illlustrations, announcements, correspondence, and programs from 1875 to 1887.

The McClure Workingmen's Institute was organized in Williamsport, Indiana in 1856. It was the late Mr. McClure's legacy to distribute books amongst mechanics and laborers.
